CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Conference play hit the quarter pole last week with Albany and Vermont each picking up league wins to remain unbeaten in America East play. The two teams sit tied atop the league standings at 4-0. Hartford and Stony Brook each won twice and sit one game back at 3-1. The top four teams in the conference standings will secure home quarterfinal games for the America East Playoffs. Read about weekly award winners and catch up on league notes below:

Player of the Week
Mark Nwakamma, Hartford - Sr., Leander, Texas
  • Averaged 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in leading Hartford to a pair of conference victories last week.
  • Shot 56 percent (14-of-25) for the week.
  • Contributed 16 points and seven rebounds in a one-point win at UNH Wednesday.
  • Tallied his first double-double of the season (20 points, 11 rebounds) in an overtime win over UMass Lowell Saturday.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Tanner Leissner, New Hampshire - Fr., Converse, Texas
  • Averaged 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week.
  • Led UNH to an overtime win at Binghamton Saturday, contributing 17 points and nine rebounds.
  • Scored four points and added three rebounds in the five-minute overtime period.
  • Had 15 points and six boards in a loss to Hartford Wednesday.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Jahad Thomas, UMass Lowell - R-Fr., Williamsport, Pa.
  • Averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week.
  • Packed the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a win at Maine Wednesday.
  • Had 16 points and nine boards in a loss at Hartford Saturday.
  • The award is Thomas' league-best fifth of the year.
Notes
  • Albany and Vermont are off to 4-0 starts in America East play.
  • The Great Danes have won seven of their last eight games and are 4-0 for the first time since the 2006-07.
  • The Catamounts are 4-0 in the league for the second-straight year.
  • Albany head coach Will Brown picked up his 200th-career win Wednesday evening.
  • Stony Brook is a perfect 8-0 at home this season.
  • Stony Brook’s nine non-conference wins are its most in 11 seasons under head coach Steve Pikiell.
  • Two players, Albany’s Peter Hooley and Hartford’s Yolonzo Moore approaching the 1,000-point milestone. Hooley is just four points away while Moore is six shy.
  • The Seawolves’ Jameel Warney leads the nation in double-doubles (14) and is second in rebounding (11.7 rpg).
  • Hartford’s seven non-conference wins matches its most since winning eight non-league games during the 2007-08 season.
  • New Hampshire’s seven non-league victories are its most since the 2009-10 campaign.
  • Stony Brook's win over Washington on Dec. 28 was the first for an America East team over a ranked opponent since Vermont beat #14 Boston College on Nov. 13, 2006.
