Wood's Triple-Double Earns Her Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. - Two historicaly performances earned weekly honors this week as conference play heads towards the midway point. Maine's Liz Wood recorded the first triple-double in program history to be named Player of the Week, while New Hampshire's Carlie Pogue pulled down 17 rebounds to grab her second-straight Rookie of the Week honor. Here are the week 10 award winners:

Player of the Week
Liz Wood, Maine, Jr., F, Catlett, Va.

  • Averaged a double-double with 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds to go with 6.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Black Bears.
  • Notched the first triple-double in Maine program history in a win over UMass Lowell with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists while adding six steals in a win over UMass Lowell.
  • It was the first triple-double in the America East since UMBC's Taylor McCarley on 3/1/14 who did it in overtime vs. Binghamton. It was the first triple-double recorded in regulation since Boston U.'s Mo Moran on 11/172010 vs. Yale.
  • Wood went on to post 17 points and nine boards in a road win over Stony Brook, including scoring seven-straight during the deciding run in the second half.

Rookie of the Week
Carlie Pogue, New Hampshire, Fr., C, Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Averaged 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for New Hampshire. 
  • Notched six points and four rebounds in a win over Vermont.
  • Scored 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a 73-68 win over Binghamton.
  • The 17 rebounds are the most for an America East freshman since Binghamton's Jasbriell Swain on 2/2/11.
  • Nine of her 17 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

Notes

  • Albany has won 27-straight conference road games.
  • UNH is 11-1 when scoring 60-plus points this season.
  • Albany's Shereesha Richards has reached double figures in 17-straight games and has 12 career Player of the Week honors, the third-most in America East history.
  • UNH's 12-5 record is its best through 17 games since 1998-99.
  • Liz Wood's triple-double is the 1st in regulation of an AE conference since UVM’s Courtnay Pilypaitis on 2/13/08.
  • Carlie Pogue's 17 rebounds were the most for an America East freshman since Binghamton's Jasbriell Swain on 2/2/11.
  • Freshmen Jasmine Sina and Imani Watkins have accounted for 51.3% of Binghamton's scoring this season.
  • The America East has three wins vs. Power 5 Conferences - 2 vs. Big Ten (Albany and Hartford def. Penn State) and one vs. ACC (Maine def. Boston College). It is the first time since 2009-10 the America East has three wins over Power 5 teams.
  • The 29 points by Imani Watkins vs. Rider is the most points scored by a Bearcat player since Orla O'Reilly also scored 29 points against Siena on Nov. 15, 2011.
