CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Albany, Fairfield and New Hampshire picked up wins during the second weekend of NCAA field hockey play. Here are the conference's weekly award winners:
Player of the Week
Ann Burgoyne, Fairfield, So., Forward, Blue Bell, Pa.
- Tallied four points on two goals last week.
- Led Fairfield to a 4-2 win over Villanova by scoring twice in the victory.
Defensive Player of the Week
Carlie Tarbell, New Hampshire, Sr., Goalkeeper, Wakefield, Mass.
- Allowed just one goal while making 15 saves in two games last week.
- Stopped five shots in UNH's 1-0 win over Drexel on Sunday.
- Recorded a season-high 10 saves and nearly led Wildcats to a win over 12th-ranked Stanford before they fell 1-0 in overtime.
Rookie of the Week
Taylor Gaines, Vermont, Fr., Midfielder, Surrey, British Columbia
- Tallied three points last week.
- Had a goal and an assist in a one-goal loss to Kent State Saturday.
Notes
- Ten of last week's 12 games were one-goal contests.
- Albany nearly knocked off No. 5 Syracuse, falling 2-1.
- The Great Danes beat Cornell, 2-1, Sunday on Fiori Van Rijswijk's late goal.
- Fairfield got two scores apiece from Ann Burgoyne and Felicitas Heinen to beat Villanova, 4-2.
- UNH beat Drexel, 1-0, on Meg Flatley's goal in the 62nd minute.
