CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Five of America East's seven volleyball program picked up wins last week with Hartford picked up two victories to move to .500 on the season. Here are the weekly award winners:
Player of the Week
Brenna Buckwalter, New Hampshire, Sr., Right Side Hitter, Evergreen, Colo.
- Second in the league in both kills per set (3.4 kps) and hitting percentage (.357) in three matches last week.
- Added 1.6 digs per set.
- Named to Golden Flashes Classic all-tournament team.
Setter of the Week
Jackie Tamburri, Hartford, Sr., Setter, Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.
- Averaged 8.79 assists and 3.50 digs per set in leading Hartford to a pair of wins in four matches last week.
- Had double-doubles in all four matches, including 38 assists and 14 digs in a 3-0 win over Iona Friday.
- Broke Hartford's all-time assist record against Sacred Heart Saturday.
Rookie of the Week
Katy Henchy, Hartford, Fr., Outside Hitter, Ventura, Calif.
- Averaged 2.5 kills per set in four matches last week while hitting .256.
- Had double-digit kills in both of Hartford's wins last week, registering 12 while hitting .500 in a win over Iona Friday and tallying 11 in a win over Sacred Heart Saturday.
Notes
- Hartford went 2-1 at the Sacred Heart Invitational, posting wins over Iona and Sacred Heart.
- Jackie Tamburri broke Hartford's all-time assist mark in the win over Sacred Heart.
- UMass Lowell beat Quinnipiac Wednesday, its first-ever win at the Division I level.
- Albany won its first match of the year Friday, beating Boston College, 3-2. The win was Albany's first over an ACC foe since it beat Maryland in 2011.
- New Hampshire and Stony Brook also won matches last week with the Wildcats downing Morehead State Friday and the Seawolves beating Bucknell Saturday.
