CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three America East women's soccer programs picked up wins last week, including Binghamton, which went 2-0-0, posting victories over Siena and Lafayette. Here are this week's award winners:
Player of the Week
Vivian Vega, Albany, Fr., Forward, Santa Ana, Calif.
- Tied for the league lead with four points last week, scoring her second and third career goals.
- Tallied both of Albany's scores against Iona on Friday.
- Her three goals lead the Great Danes and are tied for the conference lead.
Rookie of the Week
Jess Silverman, Vermont, Fr., Midfielder, Commack, N.Y.
- Scored in both of Vermont's games last week.
- Registered first career score in Friday's loss to Colgate.
- Added her second score in as many games in the 85th minute to force overtime against ACC-foe Syracuse Sunday.
Notes
- Binghamton beat Siena and Lafayette last week to improve to 3-3-0 on the season.
- The Bearcats have won three straight after dropping their first three matches. It's their longest win streak since winning four in a row last September.
- Hartford registered its fourth shutout of the young season in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Siena Sunday. It's the first time since 1992 the Hawks have blanked four of their first five opponents.
- Vermont's Ally Ramos made 15 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to Syracuse Sunday. The 15 stops are the most by an America East keeper this year and most since Maine's Ashley Castanio stopped 16 shots against Stony Brook in the America East semifinals Nov. 3, 2013.
- Stony Brook's 2-1 win over Seton Hall Thursday was its first over a Big East foe since beating St. John's Aug. 26, 2012.
- Albany's Caitlyn Paltsios leads America East with seven points through the first three weeks of the season.
