CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - UMass Lowell's Bianca Jones scored three goals to single handedly lead her team to a win at UC-Davis over the weekend. Albany, and Maine also won games last week. Here are this week's America East field hockey award winners:

Player of the Week
Bianca Jones, UMass Lowell, Sr., Forward, Watertown, Mass.

  • Scored three times in UMass Lowell's 3-2 overtime win vs. UC Davis Saturday. goals in two games last week.
  • Won the game on her breakaway goal in the 83rd minute.
  • The award is her second of the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Maxi Primus, Albany, So., Goalkeeper, Albany

  • Stopped all three shots she faces in Albany's 2-0 win over Princeton Sunday.
  • Notched her sixth shutout of the season in just nine games, already a new Albany program record.

Rookie of the Week
Gianna Bensaia, New Hampshire, R-Fr., Yorktown Heights, N.Y.

  • Scored twice against Miami (Ohio) last week.
  • The goals were the first of her career.

Notes

  • Albany was ranked 12th in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll last week.
  • The Great Danes were No. 3 in the first RPI rankings released Sept. 21.
  • Paula Heuser leads the conference and ranks among national leaders with 25 points (10 G, 5 A).
  • Her 2.8 points per game are tied for fourth nationally.
  • Maxi Primus' .846 save percentage ranks third nationally. She's allowed just six goals on 39 shots this season.
  • UMass Lowell beat UC-Davis, 3-2 in overtime, behind a hat trick from Bianca Jones.
  • Maine won for the second time in three games, beating Quinnipiac, 4-1, Sunday.
  • Conference play begins this weekend with Vermont hosting Maine and UNH taking on Fairfield Friday as well as Albany facing UMass Lowell Saturday.
