CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - UMBC continued its hot start with a 4-0 victory over Delaware State on Friday night while four America East teams recorded one-goal wins on Sunday. Here are this week's award winners:
Player of the Week
Jessy Brown, UMBC, Sr., Midfielder, Plantation, Fla.
- Matched the best single-game performance for any America East women's soccer player this season, scoring two goals and recording one assist in a 4-0 win over Delaware State.
- It was the first five point performance for a Retriever since Oct. 4, 2009.
- The senior more than doubled her scoring outpur for the season in the contest.
Rookie of the Week
Maddie Good, Fr., Forward, Palmyra, Pa.
- Had a goal and an assist in Stony Brook's 3-2 OT win over Fordham.
- Good assisted on the first goal that tied the game at 1-1 and then gave the Seawolves a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute.
- Is tied for the team lead in points with six.
Notes
- UMBC has won 13 of its last 14 at home and are 6-2-0 on the season, the team's best start since 1996.
- Maine's Charlene Achille has scored four of Maine's six goals this season including two in a 3-3 tie vs. Central Connecticut.
- UMBC freshman Gabby Boehmer became the eighth Retriever to score a goal this season.
- UMass Lowell's Jill Carlson recorded 6 saves in a 1-0 shutout against St. Bonaventure.
