CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Reigning America East Rookie of the Year Brian Wright continued his hot start to the season over the weekend. The sophomore scored twice more, increasing his league-leading total to five in just six games this season. He scored six goals all of last season. Wright is one of the two America East weekly award winners for the week ending Sept. 14:
Player of the Week

- Tallied five points on two goals and an assist in two games last week.
- Scored and set up the game-winning goal in Vermont's 3-2 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.
- Also found the back of the net in Vermont's loss to UAB Friday.
Rookie of the Week
Afonso Pinheiro, Albany, Fr., Forward, Sao Paulo, Brazil
- Scored twice, including the game winner, in Albany's 3-1 win over Iona Friday.
- The goals were the first two of Pinheiro's career.
Notes
- Vermont, which received votes in both national polls last week, improved to 5-1-0 on the season Sunday with a 3-2 win over Jacksonville.
- The 5-1 start is the Catamounts' best since 2011.
- Brian Wright has five goals in his first six games of the season for Vermont and leads the league in goals and points (12). He is tied for sixth nationally in both categories.
- Hartford beat College of Charleston, 1-0, Friday to extend its season-opening win streak to five games before falling to Akron Sunday. The Hawks are 3-1-1 on the season.
- #14 UMBC had its 14-game unbeaten streak snapped over the weekend as the Retrievers lost twice in UNLV's tournament. UMBC fell to #27 in this week's College Soccer News poll after coming at #12 last week.
- UMBC's Mamadou Kansaye and Marquez Fernandez are both candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, given to a senior who excels in
community, classroom, character and competition.
