CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Offenses exploded last week as three America East teams scored five or more goals in a contest. UMBC scored six times in a 6-0 blanking of Mount St. Mary's Friday while Albany and Hartford each scored five times apiece in wins over St. Peter's and Iona, respectively, on Sunday. Here are this week's award winners:

Player of the Week
Chanel Johnson, Hartford, Sr., Forward, New London, Conn.

  • Racked up a league-best seven points last week, scoring three times and adding an assist to lead Hartford to a win and a tie last week.
  • Contributed on both tallies in a 2-2 tie against Wagner Thursday, scoring once and setting up the Hawks' other score.
  • Recorded her second career multi-goal game and first of the season scoring twice in Hartford's 5-1 victory over Iona Sunday.

Rookie of the Week
Kiana Rugar, Albany, R-Fr., Forward, New Fairfield, Conn.

  • Had six points in three games last week, including a four-point contest in Albany's 5-0 win over St. Peter's Sunday.
  • Scored a goal and set up two others in the win over the Peacocks.
  • Also found the back of the net in Albany's 2-1 loss to Rhode Island Friday.

Notes

  • Hartford extended its unbeaten streak to three games (1-0-2) by tying Wagner and beating Iona last week.
  • The Hawks' five goals against Iona were their most since Sept. 2, 2012 vs. Saint Joseph’s.
  • UMBC scored six times in a 6-0 win over Mount St. Mary's Friday.
  • The six scores were the Retrievers' most in a game since scoring 12 against Delaware St. in 2002.
  • UMBC's 5-2 start is its best since 1996.
  • Albany's 5-0 win over St. Peter's Sunday was its largest margin of victory since a 6-0 win over Howard in 2006.
  • UNH and Binghamton also picked up wins last week over Bryant and Canisius, respectively.
  • The Bearcats are 4-1 in their last five games after an 0-3 start.
  • Hartford's Chanel Johnson leads the league with 11 points and is tied with Vivian Vega from Albany with five goals.
