Ouellette , Prizzi Head to Nationals

EUGENE, Ore. –  America East will be represented in the NCAA Track & Field Nationals by its Twin State members, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Vermont’s Nika Ouellette will continue impressive season in the javelin. She threw a distance of 50.01 meters to become the first female in program history to reach the 50-meter mark in the event. The senior won her round and placed ninth overall to qualify for nationals, which kickoff next Wednesday, June 11 in Eugene, Oregon. She previously held a program-best mark of 49.98 meters which came during the 2012 America East Championships as a sophomore.

John Prizzi will travel to Oregon for the Wildcats and will run the 3000-meter steeplechase. Prizzi, who has been ranked in the top-10 among Division I athletes this season, took second in his heat and earned fourth overall during the East Regionals with a school-best mark of 8:42.20. He will be the first UNH athlete to participate at the NCAA Outdoor Championship since 2010.

The 2014 Outdoor Track & Field Nationals begin Wednesday, June 11th and will conclude Saturday, June 14th.
