SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Stony Brook Seawolves used a historic defensive performance to win their second-straight America East title and will play in the team's second NCAA tournament on Friday at 4 p.m. against the Towson Tigers at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse N.Y.

The winner will play No. 2 Syracuse at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the second round.

Stony Brook defeated Albany, 7-1, setting a tournament record for fewest goals allowed in a game. Goalkeeper Frankie Caridi, the America East Defensive Player of the Year, set a tournament record with a 3.00 goals against average and went on to be named Most Outstanding Player.

Freshmen carried the scoring load throughout the tournament as Courtney Murphy finished with eight goals, including six in the semifinal, while Dorrie Van Dyke tallied two in the title game.

The Seawolves defeated Towson in the NCAA first round last year before falling to top-seeded Maryland. Overall, America East teams are 4-15 in the NCAA Championship with two wins in the last four years.
