University of Hartford's Tate Klidonas was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) 2
Klidonas is the first-ever Hartford player to earn a spot on the USILA Scholar All-America Team. A short-stick midfielder from Emmaus, Pa., Klidonas recorded 17 points, a career-high, on 10 goals and seven assists in his senior season en route to earning first-team All-America East honors. Compiling 35 caused turnovers in his four seasons at Hartford, he closed out his career ranked fourth in the category in the program's record books.
With one of the highest grade point averages on the men's lacrosse team, Klidonas held a 3.76 cumulative GPA as a health sciences major, a mark that was the highest among the 10-member America East All-Academic Team.
A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, on a 4.0 scale. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.
In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing all three NCAA Divisions. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
