#AESB Regular Season Wraps Up This Weekend

The final regular-season softball action of the season takes place this weekend with three series. The four-team field for the 2014 America East Championship is set but the regular-season title and seeds are still up for grabs.

Here’s a look at the three weekend series:

Stony Brook (30-15, 13-1 AE) at Binghamton (20-21, 9-5 AE)

Fri., May 2, 2:30 p.m./4:30 p.m.; Sat., May 3, 12 p.m. – Live Video/Live Stats

  • Stony Brook can secure at least a share of the America East regular-season title and the top seed for the America East Championship with one win or one Albany loss this weekend.
  • The Seawolves have won 15 of their last 16 games and have won 30 games for the third-straight season.
  • Binghamton can finish as high as the No. 2 seed for the tournament.
  • The Bearcats lead the league hitting .298 as a team.

Hartford (7-28, 1-14 AE) at UMass Lowell (11-35, 1-13 AE)

  • Hartford and UMass Lowell wrap up their 2014 seasons this week end.
  • The River Hawks are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross on Tuesday, earning 5-1 and 7-5 victories.
  • The Hawks enter losers of their last 10.  Hartford's last win came in a 6-3 decision against Yale on April 9.

UMBC (31-17, 8-6 AE) at Albany (26-10, 11-3 AE)

  • UMBC has won four straight and eight of its last nine games.
  • The Retrievers secured its first America East Championship bid since 2011 last week and has its most wins since 2009.
  • Albany sits in second place in the league standings and can secure the regular-season title and No. 1 seed for the league tournament win a sweep of UMBC.
  • The Great Danes have won six-straight games.
