CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three softball standouts that led their teams to wins last week are America East's weekly award winners for the fourth week of the season:
Player of the Week
Chelsea Bertoglio, Sr., 1B, UMBC
- Hit .500 (5-for-10) and posted a league-high .600 on-base percentage in four games last week.
- Slugged .900 as she hit a double and her second homer and drove in six runs.
Pitcher of the Week
Hannah Hill, Sr., Pitcher, Maine
- Went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA, allowing just one earned run in 14.0 innings of work last week.
- Struck out six in a complete-game shutout win over LIU.
- Allowed just one run with seven punchouts in a win over Seton Hall.
Rookie of the Week
Kelly Lane, Fr., Pitcher, UMBC
- Went 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA last week.
- Hurled UMBC's first-ever perfect game in a five-inning win over UMES and struck out 10.
- Had 13 K's in 8 2/3 innings of work last week.
Around the League
- UMBC (12-4) took three of four from Maryland Eastern Shore last week and is off to its best start since 2010.
- Stony Brook (5-10) won games over Sacramento State and Fairleigh Dickinson at the Mustang Classic in California last week.
- Albany's tournament at Towson was canceled.
- Maine (5-5) has won four of its last five games.
