CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three softball standouts from the two teams that won their opening conference series over the weekend are America East's softball weekly award winners this week:
Player of the Week
Jessica Burk, Jr., Maine
- Hit .583 (7-for-12) as Maine took two of three games from Hartford over the weekend.
- Scored four runs and drove in four.
- Went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Maine's 10-0 win over Hartford Saturday.
Pitcher of the Week
Allison Cukrov, Sr., Pitcher, Stony Brook
- Went 3-0 with a 2.47 ERA in three games last week.
- Picked up both Stony Brook wins as it took two of three from Albany.
- Struck out 18 in 17 innings of work.
Rookie of the Week
Rachel Harvey, Fr., Catcher, Maine
- Went 4-for-7 (.571) and led Maine to a series win over Hartford.
- Hit a home run and drove in five runs.
Around the League
- UMBC (19-9) is off to its best start since 2006.
- Stony Brook (10-11, 2-1 AE) took two of three from Albany(9-7, 1-2 AE) last week in the first conference series for both teams.
- Maine (10-9) beat Hartford by scores of 10-0 and 12-9 to take its opening series, 2-1.
- Binghamton and UMass Lowell had its opening series postponed.
