New Hampshire (13-8, 7-1) looks to continue its historic America East start on Thursday night as the Wildcats host UMBc (2-19, 1-8) at 7 p.m. on AmericaEast.TV.
The Wildcats are looking to sweep the Retrievers in the season series for the first time since 2004-05. UNH's 7-1 start to America East play matches the best eight-game start to a conference schedule since 1992-93 and a win would be the best nine-game conference stretch in program history.
UMBC is led by a pair of outstanding freshman in Sara Tarbert and Taylor McCarley. Tarbert leads all America East freshmen in points (13.2) and rebounds (6.9). The Retrievers are looking to snap an eight-game skid.
Two America East teams supported Play 4Kay on Wednesday night in Stony Brook and Vermont.
The Seawolves (16-7, 7-3) exceeded their conference win total from a year ago with a 62-42 win over Binghamton. Stony Brook collected dontations for cancer researcha and wore pink warm-up shirts in support of Play 4Kay. Freshman Kori Bayne-Walker paced the squad with a career-high 18 points, including 16 in the second half to help Stony Brook outscore Binghamton 36-16 over the final 20 minutes.
Vermont (6-17, 3-7) dropped a, 69-52, decision to Maine (12-11, 6-4) at Patrick Gym. The Catamounts wore pink jerseys which were auctioned off following the game with proceeds going to benefit cancer research.
The Black Bears were led by Ashleigh Roberts and Liz Wood, who scored 17 apiece. Maine used a 12-4 run to end the first half to break a 22-22 tie and never led by fewer than eight points for the remaining of the game.
