Two Play 4Kay Games Wednesday Night; Albany Continues Winning Streak

Two America East teams will play their annual Play 4Kay games on Wednesday night in America East women's basketball action.

Play4Kay is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise awareness for women’s cancer research. The Kay Yow Fund is the official charity of the imitative. Kay Yow, a former women’s basketball head coach at North Carolina State University, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and died in 2009. Since its inception, Play4Kay has raised more than $2.8 million to support women’s cancer research.

Binghamton (4-18, 1-8) visits Stony Brook (15-7, 6-3) for a 7 p.m. game on AmericaEast.TV. All fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the game while the school also will be raffling off an iPad and accepting donations for women's cancer research. The Seawolves edged out the Bearcats, 48-45, in the first meeting this season, closing the game on a 10-2 run.

Vermont (6-16, 3-6) hosts Maine (11-11, 5-4) at 7 p.m. on CatamounTV. The Catamounts will wear pink jerseys which will be auctioned off at auction.uvmathletics.com with bids starting at $75 per jersey. The Black Bears have won four of the last six meetings between the two teams, including a 92-62 win in the first meeting this season.

Albany (20-3, 10-0) registered 20-wins for the third-straight season, defeating UMass Lowell, 93-47, Tuesday night. With the win, UAlbany ties Hampton for the longest Division I conference-winning streak at 33-consecutive America East victories, the second-longest in league history behind Maine’s 37-straight from 1995 to 1997. Shereesha Richards (29 pts) and Megan Craig (17 pts) combined for 46 points in the win.
