CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Strong all-around performances by two of America East's top guards have earned Maine's Xavier Pollard and UMBC's Rodney Elliott America East weekly awards for week 13:


Player of the Week
Xavier Pollard, Jr., Guard, Maine

  • Averaged a league-best 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in two Maine wins last week.
  • Scored 20 points and also added four boards and five thefts in a win over UNH Wednesday.
  • Had 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in Maine's win over UMBC Saturday.
Rookie of the Week
Rodney Elliott, Fr., Guard, UMBC
  • Contributed 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in two UMBC contests last week.
  • Recorded his first career double-double and nearly had a triple-double (14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists) in a win over Binghamton Wednesday.
  • Scored 21 points, his fourth 20-plus point effort of the years, while also adding seven boards and three assists in a loss to Maine Saturday.T

  • Vermont (8-1) and Stony Brook (8-1) are tied for first place atop the league standings.
  • The Seawolves have won seven of their last eight games and 23 consecutive league contests at home dating back to the 2010-11 season.
  • The 23-straight league wins are home is the third-longest active streak in the nation.
  • Vermont has won 10 of its last 11 games.

  • Voelkel became Vermont's all-time assist leader Saturday.
  • Stony Brook's Jameel Warney leads the nation shooting 65.5 percent from the field.
  • Four different Binghamton players have earned Rookie of the Week honors this season, the first time in America East history four players from one team have earned the honor.
  • America East is youth driven as six of the top 15 scorers are freshmen or sophomores.
