CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two players how had major impacts on their teams continuing winning streaks earned America East women’s basketball weekly honors for the week ending Feb. 2. New Hampshire sophomore Elizabeth Belanger was fourth in the conference in scoring, including a game-winning shot to net Player of the Week, while Hartford freshman Morgan Lumb sparked a second-half comeback to take home Rookie of the Week. Here are the week 13 awards:

Player of the Week
Elizabeth Belanger, So., New Hampshire
Acton, Mass.

  • Averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 59.3% in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
  • Matched a career-high with 20 points, including hitting the game-winning floater with 0.9 seconds left to give UNH a 74-73 win at Maine.
  • Also set a career-high with four steals while hitting on 9-of-14 from the field against Maine.
  • Led the Wildcats with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds and five assists in a win over Binghamton.

Rookie of the Week
Morgan Lumb, Fr., Hartford
North Andover, Mass.

  • Led all Hartford players with 14.5 points per game while shooting 50% from the field in a 2-0 week for the Hawks.
  • Finished with her third game in double figures with 12 points in 20 minuntes in a road win at Vermont while also adding two rebounds and two assists.
  • Sparked a come-from-behind victory against Stony Brook, scoring eight-straight points as part of an 11-0 run and finished the game with a career-high 17 points.
  • Hit 5-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line while grabbing two rebounds and notching two steals.

Around the League

  • Albany has won 32-straight conference regular-season games, tied for the longest current conference winning streak in the nation with Hampton (MEAC).
  • New Hampshire’s 9-1 start to 2014 is the team’s best 10-game stretch since going 11-1 in 1992-93.
  • Hartford has won five-straight since starting conference play 1-3.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards broke the program single season scoring record with her 474th point of the season against Vermont.
  • Vermont’s Niki Taylor became the 23rd player in program history with 500 points and 500 rebounds in her career.
  • Shannon Samuels, Lindsey Doucette and Jasmine McRoy combined for 57 points in UMass Lowell’s 65-54 win over Binghamton.
  • Stony Brook had its best 20-game start in program DI history at 15-5.
  • UMBC sophomore Bridget O’Donnell had seven blocks at Vermont, the most for an America East player since UMBC’s Tope Obajolu had 7 at Vermont on Jan. 22, 2012.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards scored a program record 41 points at Vermont, the most for any America East player since Boston U.’s Katie Meinhardt had 43 in March of 2005.
  • Richards’ nine Player of the Week honors are a single-season league record.
  • 5 different players have had 30-point performances, the most since 7 different players accomplished the feat in 2008-09.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards made 17 field goals at Vermont, the most for an America East player since Northeastern’s Maralene Zwarich made 17 vs. UMBC on Jan. 17, 2004.
