Albany Clinches Share of Regular-Season Title Wednesday

The Albany Great Danes (24-3, 14-0) clinched at-least a share of their second-straight America East regular-season title with an, 86-35, win over Binghamton (4-22, 1-2) as part of four America East women's basketball games on Wednesday night.

With the win, Albany also tied an America East record with its 37th-straight conference victory, a record set by Maine from 1995-97. Shereesha Richards led all scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds, her 17th game with 20-plus points this season, an new Albany record. The Great Danes shot 52.3-percent while holding Binghamton to 26.7 and forced 31 Bearcats turnovers.

Behind a season-high 17 points from Kaylee Kilpatrick, New Hampshire (17-9, 11-2) beat Vermont (6-20, 3-10), 71-50, on the road. The win gives the Wildcats its most overall and conference wins since going 19-8 overall and 13-5 in the America East in 1998-99. The Wildcats used an 18-4 stretch over the opening eight minutes to take control of the contest, and finished by holding Vermont to 33.3-percent from the floor. The Catamounts were led by 18 points from freshman Kristina White.

Hartford (10-16, 7-6) had six players score in double figures as the Hawks earned an 80-64 win over UMass Lowell (5-20, 4-10). Amber Bepko led the Hawks with 18 points, marking her fifth-straight contest in double figures, while Alyssa Englert (14), Deanna Mayza (12), Shanise Bultron (11), Morgan Lumb (10) and Alyssa Reaves (10) also reached double digits in scoring. Jasmine McRoy led the River Hawks with 24 points.

Sabre Proctor scored 20 points to lead Stony Brook (19-7, 10-3) to a, 72-51, win at UMBC (3-23, 3-12). The victory gives Stony Brook 19 overall this season, one shy of the program Division I record of 20 set in 2005-06. UMBC was within six at 24-18 with less than five minutes to go in the first half, but the Seawolves outscored the Retrievers 9-3 before intermission to take a 33-21 advantage into the locker room. Stony Brook led by double digits for all but 32 seconds in the second half.
