5 #AEWSOC Players Named to NSCAA All-Region Team

Five America East women's soccer standouts have been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their outstanding play as All-Northeast Region selections, the organizaiton announced Thursday.

UMBC midfielder Jessy Brown, New Hampshire midfielder Brooke Murphy and Hartford forward Chanel Johnson were all named to the All-Northeast Region Second Team while Stony Brook midfielder Tessa Deveraux and New Hampshire goalkeeper Mimi Borkan were selected to the third team.

Brown was the America East Midfielder of the Year for the second-straight season after ranking fifth in the America East with a career-best 19 points and seven goals. Her 19 points were the most in a season for a Retriever since Amanda DiCarlo in 2005. Brown registered all 37 points in her career during her final two seasons on campus, with 10 of 14 goals representing game-winners.

An America East Second Team selection, Murphy was outstanding for the Wildcats during her rookie campaign, scoring 11 goals to rank second in the conference and first among all freshmen. She was even better in the America East Tournament, scoring goals in each of UNH's three games to help the Wildcats capture their first conference title.

Johnson was the America East Striker of the Year for the second-straight season, leading the conference with 12 goals. The Hartford senior led the Hawks to the America East title game for the second time in three years and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Borkan was sensational in the America East Championship and earned Most Outstanding Player honors after leading the Wildcats to their first title in program history. She made seven saves in the title game vs. Hartford while also making key stops in a pair of wins in penalty kicks in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Borkan averaged 4.81 saves per game and had an .835 save percentage.

Deveraux was the playmaker in the Stony Brook offense, leading the conference with seven assists on the year. The midfielder landed on the America East All-Conference First Team.
