CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On the heels of winning three fall championships for the second-straight year, University of New Hampshire leads the America East Commissioner’s Cup standings following the 2014-15 fall season. University at Albany and UMBC, which swept regular-season and tournament titles in field hockey and men’s soccer, respectively, en route to going on impressive runs in the NCAA tournament, fell in behind the Wildcats.
The Commissioner’s Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition in the conference’s 18 sports.
UNH, which won fall titles in women’s cross country, women’s soccer and volleyball, racked up 140 points this fall, 15 more than Albany, which had 125. UMBC came in third with 115 points, followed by University of Hartford in fourth with 104. Binghamton University is fifth (93 points), followed by Stony Brook University in sixth (70), UMass Lowell in seventh (68), University of Vermont in eighth (55) and University of Maine in ninth (48).

Albany
- Winner of the last two Commissioner’s Cups, Albany is second after the fall season after being fourth at this time last year.
- Swept the field hockey regular-season and tournament titles as part of a historic season (20-3, Final Four appearance).
- Collected the second-most points in volleyball, reaching the title match for the ninth time in 11 years.
UMBC
- Captured a fall title for the third-straight year to place third.
- Became the first program in 20 years to sweep the men’s soccer regular-season and tournament titles for a second-straight year en route to reaching the third round of the NCAA Championship.
- Earned the third-most points in women’s soccer and placed third in men’s cross country.
Hartford
- Captured its first women’s soccer regular-season title since 2006 and reached the championship game for the second time in three years.
- Earned the second-most points in men’s soccer, placing second in the regular season and making the title game for the third time in four years.
Binghamton
- Won its first men’s cross country championship since 2009.
- Earned the third-most points in men’s soccer, finishing fourth in the regular season and reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2008.
Stony Brook
- Runners-up in women’s cross country, the eighth-straight year the Seawolves have finished second or better.
- Tied for second during the volleyball regular season.
UMass Lowell
- Runners up in men’s cross country, its best-ever finish.
- Finished third in the men’s soccer regular-season standings.
Vermont
- Best showing was a third-place finish in women’s cross country and also reached the men’s soccer semifinals.
Maine
- Earned the third-most points in field hockey.
The scoring system for the Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup is as follows: In sports where regular-season round robin competition is conducted, the first-place institution in the final standings receives four points times the total number of teams involved in conference play. The second-place institution receives four less points; third place receives eight less points, and so on. Additionally, the America East (tournament) champion receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place receives four less points and so on down to the last-place institution which receives two points.
In sports where regular-season round robin competition is not conducted (cross country, tennis, track & field, swimming & diving), the first-place institution at the America East championship receives two points times the total number of teams participating in the championship. The second-place institution receives two less points; third place gets four less points and so on down to the last place team which receives two points.
