Albany Field Hockey Meets UConn in the Final Four Friday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Albany's historic field hockey season continues this weekend in the Final Four as the 12th-ranked Great Danes  take on No. 3 UConn in the national semifinals on Friday at 4:45 p.m. The winner will face the victor of the Syracuse/North Carolina game for the national championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.

America East field hockey champion, the Great Danes (20-2) have the nation's longest win streak at 14 games after upsetting No. 5 Wake Forest and No. 2 Maryland in the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament last weekend.

The Great Danes are making their first-ever Final Four appearance in any sport. They are the third America East field hockey team to reach the semifinals, joining

Paula Heuser leads Albany as the best player in the nation, leading the country averaging 3.1 points per game. Her 69 total points are second most in a season in America East history while her 29 goals are tied for a league record. 

UConn (18-3), the reigning national champions, won the Big East title and enter the day riding a 12-game win streak.
