Ahead of her team’s trip to the Final Four, Albany’s Paula Heuser was named the Longstreth/NFHCA Northeast Region Player of the Year on Tuesday. Additionally, Heuser and 12 others were named NFHCA All-Region selections.
Heuser, a sophomore midfielder, leads the nation averaging 3.3 points per game and has 69 total points, scoring 29 goals and adding 11 assists. The America East Midfielder of the Year for the second-straight season, Heuser led Albany to the 2014 America East title and was named the championship’s Most Outstanding Player. She helped her team advance to the Final Four for the first time in program history with wins over #5 Wake Forest and #2 Maryland last weekend.
Joining Heuser as first-team All- Northeast Region choices were teammates Maxi Primus, the America East Goalkeeper of the Year, Laura Page and Fiori Van Rijswijk, Maine’s Annabelle Hamilton and Holly Stewart and New Hampshire’s Meg Flatley and Kellie Joyce. Fairfield’s Felicitas Heinen, the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, was named a first-team All-Mideast Region choice .
Ann Burgoyne, the America East Offensive Player of the Year, was a second-team choice. Albany’s Anna Bottino, the league’s Rookie of the Year, Maine’s Nicole Sevey and New Hampshire’s Chandler Giese were second-team All Northeast Region selections.
