CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Over the past week, Binghamton traveled to Drexel, Vermont hosted both Boston College and conference foe Maine, and New Hampshire raced against Rhode Island. Here are the fourth weekly award winners of the season:
Swimmer Performer of the Week
Katie Mann, New Hampshire, Senior, Prince George, British Columbia
- Katie Mann snapped two pool records in the 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley. The senior also earned provisional cuts in the respective events.
- In the 400-yard IM, Mann finished the event with a time of 2:14.88, and in the 200-yard breaststroke she ended with a time of 4:16.43.
- The senior's 400-yard IM time ranks her 11th in the nation while her 200-yard breaststroke mark is 22nd among Division I swimmers.
- Man was also part of the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay team that raced at a pace of 3:31.84. The time came up just .63 seconds away from another school record
- New Hampshire won 15 out of the 16 events against Central Connecticut State University, and registered their second straight dual meet victory by a mark of 168-124.
Diver Performer of the Week
Maggie Preston, Vermont, Junior, West Hartford, Conn.
- Maggie Preston won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events for the third consecutive meet.
- Preston scored a 245.50 on the one-meter dive, and 250.35 on the three-meter dive; both were her top scores of the season.
- As a team, Vermont defeated both Maine and Boston College in a tri-meet at Wallace Pool. The Catamounts took down the Black Bears 172-128, and the Eagles fell 206-94.
Swimming & Diving Notes
- Binghamton fell at Drexel in their first road meet of the season, 162-137. Senior Caitlin Kelly continued her success this season in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, sweeping both events with times of 23.99 and 52.99. Freshman Maria Trivino also finished first in the 200-yard individual medley.
- Maine topped Boston College at the tri-meet 183.50 – 116.50, but fell to Vermont 172-128. Freshmen Chloe Adams and Emma Pontius each won two events. Adams took the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.31 and 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.16. Pontius won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly with 58.14 and 2:08.10 times respectively.
- Vermont topped both Boston College and Maine in a tri-meet, by the scores of 206-94 and 172-128 respectfully. Freshman Shannon Cowley set a new Vermont rookie record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.08, along with winning the 200 individual medley in 2:12.24.
- Junior Maggie Preston, who swept the one-meter and three-meter events with season high scores of 245.50 and 250.35, led the Catamounts on the diving board. Junior Christa Weaver earned individual event victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle with paces of 23.85 and 52.79.
- New Hampshire came out on top against Rhode Island, 168-124. Senior Katie Mann set new records and provisional cuts in the 400-yard individual medley, and the 200-yard breaststroke. Her times of 2:14.88 and 4:16.43 ranked 11th and 22nd in the nation respectfully.
- Wildcats freshman Liza Boykova notched two first place finishes as well, in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle event. Reigning Player of the Week Jessica Harper tapped in first in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke.
- In this upcoming week, Vermont hosts Central Connecticut State University in Burlington for the Rally against Cancer Game.
