INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – With the nation’s longest active winning streak in hand, University at Albany field hockey (18-2) will face 2014 ACC Champion Wake Forest (14-6) in the NCAA First Round College Park Regional on Saturday, Nov. 15. The contest is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m., with Maryland playing in the first game at 11:30 am against the winner of the play-in.

Albany is making its fourth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and second appearance in the College Park Regional. The Purple & Gold fell 4-2 to Maryland in the home of the Terrapins in 2008, its first all-time appearance. The Great Danes avoided one of three play-in games as they were deemed one of the top five automatic qualifying teams by the NCAA selection committee. The bottom six AQ squads must play their way into the offical bracket by winning play-in games Wednesday.

The Great Danes have won a program-high 18 games, and currently hold the longest winning streak in the nation at 12 games. Maryland and Stanford lost in their respective conference finals.

Both the Great Danes and the Demon Deacons won their fourth respective conference titles this weekend. Wake Forest is ranked No. 11 in the nation, and downed No. 6 Syracuse to claim the ACC crown on Sunday afternoon.

Saturday’s game in College Park will mark the first all-time meeting between UAlbany and Wake Forest.
