CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stony Brook sits alone atop the America East volleyball standings after two weekends of action. Albany had a pair of impressive road victories, and earned Player of the Week for the effort. Here are the weekly award winners:
Player of the Week
Laini Leindecker, Albany, So., OH, New Philadelphia, Ohio
- Led the conference in kills (5.00 per set) and ranked sixth in digs (4.50 per set) in a 2-0 week for the Great Danes.
- Notched 16 kills and 19 digs in a straight-set win at UMass Lowell.
- Posted 14 kills and eight digs in a road win at New Hampshire.
Setter of the Week
Nicole Vogel, Stony Brook, Jr., Setter, Costa Mesa, Calif.
- Ranked second in the conference with 10.38 assists per set while leading all setters last week with 3.25 digs per set.
- Had a double-double with 46 assists and 10 digs while helping the team to a .204 hitting percentage in a four-set win against Manhattan.
- Notched 37 assists and 16 digs in a four-set win against UMBC.
- Helped the team to a .206 hitting percentage - ranking third in the conference last week.
Rookie of the Week
Paola Rojas, UMBC, Fr., MB, San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico
- Led all freshmen with 2.44 kills per set, helping UMBC to a 1-1 weekend.
- Also averaged 1.56 digs and 0.89 blocks per set.
- Registered 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks in a four-set loss at Stony Brook.
- Totaled nine kills and six digs in a five-set win over Hartford.
