CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Just two playing dates remain in the America East women's soccer regular-season and every team is still alive for the spot in the conference tournament. Albany continued to roll this week with a win and a tie, moving to 3-0-2 in the team's last five games. Hartford became the first team to clinch a spot in the America East tournament and stand in first place. Here are the week nine award winners:
Player of the Week
Alana Brennan, Albany, Jr., GK, Patchogue, N.Y.
- Led the conference with 17 saves (8.5) per game in a 1-0-1 week for the Great Danes.
- Finished with a league-best .944 save percentage, stopping 17 of 18 shots.
- Had 11 saves in a 0-0 draw vs. Binghamton.
- Stopped six shots in a, 2-1, win against Stony Brook.
- Became all-time wins leader in Albany DI history with 13.
Rookie of the Week
Virginia Moyer, UMBC, Fr., F, Elizabethtown, Pa.
- Scored the game-winning goal in a, 1-0, win over first-place Hartford on the road.
- The goal was the first of her collegiate career and was her only shot of the week.
Notes
- Hartford became the first team to clinch a spot in the America East tournament and sits in first-place with two games to go.
- Albany is unbeaten in its last five games (3-0-2), its longest since 2011.
- UMBC senior midfielder Jessy Brown moved into a tie for third on UMBC's all-time games played list (73). Also moved into a tie for ninth on the Retrievers' all-time assists list following a three-point effort versus UMass Lowell on Thursday.
- Maine has allowed just two goals in seven America East contests and has played four double OT games.
- UMBC freshman forward Lisa Nanov was named in the Top-100 of Division I Freshman in 2014 by Top Drawer Soccer.
