Maine, UMBC Meet on ESPN3 Wednesday Night

UMBC (2-11, 1-0) visits Maine (6-8, 0-1) in the first ESPN3 broadcast of the America East women's basketball season at 7 p.m. ET at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The game will be available for free on ESPN3.com and via the WatchESPN app on smartphones and tablets. Ed Cohen and Vera Jones will have the call.

The Retrievers () boast a young lineup as all five of their top scorers are either freshmen or sophomores, led by rookie Sara Tarbert who leads the team in both scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg). UMBC defeated Binghamton in the team's conference-opener, 47-32, holding the Bearcats to a season-low in points. The Retrievers hold an 11-9 advantage in the all-time series and  are looking for their first road win of the season.

Maine lost its lone conference game in OT to Hartford, 66-56, back on Dec. 11. The Black Bears leading scorer Ashleigh Roberts (13.1 ppg) is just 20 points away from 1,000 in her career. Maine is one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the league, with three players in the top 10 of 3-point field goals made led by Lauren Bodine at 2.4. Bodine also ranks in the top-30 of the country in 3-point field goal percentage at 46.3 percent.

Also on Wednesday night, Hartford (4-10, 1-0) heads to Stony Brook (9-4, 0-0) for the first #AEHoops CollegeInsider.com Wednesday Showcase. The Seawolves finished with their best non-conference record in school Division I history at 9-4, but are looking to break a 17-game losing streak to the Hawks. The game will be broadcast on AmericaEast.TV and CollegeInsider.com.

Binghamton (4-11, 1-1) rallied from a 17-point second half deficit to beat UMass Lowell (0-12, 0-2), 65-64, on Tuesday night in the lone America East Conference game. Sherae Swinson led the Bearcats with 17 points while Lindsey Doucette had a career night for the River Hawks with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Morgan Murphy scored the game-winning basket, driving the lane with 20 seconds to go. The Bearcats would get a stop on the defensive end on UMass Lowell's final possession.

In non-conference action. New Hampshire improved to 6-7 with a 58-53 win over Yale behind 13 points and 12 rebounds from Corinne Coia.
