UMBC (2-16. 1-5) hosts Hartford (6-13, 3-3) on Hall of Fame Saturday for the Retrievers at 1 p.m. on UMBCRetrievers.TV, part of the America East Digital Network.
UMBC is looking to snap a five-game skid coming into the contest and are led by standout freshmen Sara Tarbert and Taylor McCarley. Tarbert leads all freshmen in scoring at 12.9 ppg and reboundsing at 6.7 rpg. McCarley has won back-to-back Rookie of the Week awards, averaging 10.8 ppg over her last four contests.
Hartford has also had freshmen step-up this season, with a rookie leading the team in scoring in nine of the Hawks' 18 games. Deanna Mayza and Alyssa Reaves each scored 12-points last time out as Hartford beat Binghamton. Cherelle Moore leads the team in scoring at 9.7 pppg and 6.2 rebounds, but has upped her averaged to 12.7 ppg in league play.
