Stony Brook Wins 4th-Straight; Albany Stays Unbeaten

Albany (16-3, 6-0 AE) won the battle of unbeatens on Thursday, 88-47, over New Hampshire (10-8, 4-1) to take sole possession of first place in America East women's basketball. The game was one of four conference games on Thursday.

The Great Danes opened the game  on a 22-4 run to take control of the contest, with Megan Craig setting the tone early with 15 first-half points. Albany shot 55.9% from the field in the contest while holding New Hampshire to 27.3%. Shereesha Richards led all scorers with 25 points while Craig finished with 19. Albany has won seven-straight while snapping the Wildcats' six-game winning streak.

Stony Brook (14-5, 5-1) turned in a dominant defensive second half, holding Vermont (5-14, 2-4) without a field goal over the final 13:37 to earn an 83-49 win at Patrick Gymnasium in a game that was broadcast on ESPN3. The Catamounts trimmed a double-digit deficit to six with 15:36 remaining in the second half, but Stony Brook outscored UVM, 39-11, the rest of the way to earn its 14th win of the season, matching the team's total from last season. Brittany Snow led the Seawolves with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting.

Hartford (6-13, 3-3) used a hot start to race past Binghamton (4-15, 1-5), 66-42, for the team's second-straight win. The Hawks got off to a 14-0 start and finished the game shooting 44.1% from the floor to earn their second victory of the year on their home court. A pair of freshman in Alyssa Reaves and Deanna Mayza paced the offensive attack with 12 points apiece.

Maine (10-9, 4-2) earned its fourth win in the last five games, 75-66, at UMass Lowell (2-16, 1-6). Lauren Bodine hit six 3-pointers for the third time this season to lead the Black Bears with 20 points while Ashleigh Roberts added 18. Cherrish Wallace became the first America East player since the 2011-12 season to have at-least two games in double-digit assists with 11 to go with 15 points. Lindsey Doucette notched her third double-double of the year with 17 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for the River Hawks.
