In a rematch of the 2013 America East title game, preseason favorite Albany (11-3, 1-0) visits Hartford (4-11, 1-1) for a noon tip that will be nationally broadcast game on ESPN3. Eric Frede and Frank Sullivan have the call.
Albany defeated Hartford, 61-52, in the 2013 title game at SEFCU Arena to capture the second-straight title for the program. The Great Danes have won 25-straight conference regular season games entering Sunday's match-up. Sophomore Shereesha Richards leads the conference in scoring (23.5 ppg), rebounding (10.6 rpg) and field goal percentage (65.0), and is coming off a program-record 41 points in a win over Vermont.
Hartford leads the all-time series with Albany, 20-10. The Hawks are coming off a loss to Stony Brook as the Seawolves erased a 15-point deficit to earn the victory. Through two conference game, Hartford has three players averaging double figures in Deanna Mayza 12.5, Cherelle Moore 11.5, and Amber Bepko 11.5
In the three conference games on Saturday, New Hampshire, UMass Lowell and Maine earned wins.
Maine (8-8, 2-1) won its second-straight game, defeating Binghamton (4-12, 1-2), 64-41, on the road. Lauren Bodine led the Black Bears with 21 points, including six 3-pointers, as Maine went 11-of-28 from downtown in the game.
UMass Lowell (1-12, 1-2) won its first Division I game, beating UMBC, 65-57 (2-13, 1-2) on the road. Maryland native Jasmin McRoy returned to her home state to lead the River Hawks with 22 points and nine rebounds in the win. UMass Lowell ended the game on a 10-0 run over the final 4:30.
New Hampshire (7-7, 1-0) held on for a, 71-68, overtime win over Stony Brook (10-5, 1-1) behind a career-high 35 points from Kelsey Hogan. The Seawolves battled back from a double-digit halftime deficit for the second-straight game, tying the game with less than four minutes to go to force overtime. Hogan went 12-of-14 from the free throw line, including 6-of-6 in OT to ice the game for the Wildcats.
