CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three players from America East's two hottest field hockey teams are the conference's award winners this week:
Player of the Week
Meg Flatley, Sr., New Hampshire
Townsend, Mass.
- Scored three times to lead UNH to two wins last week.
- Had a goal to force overtime in a 3-2 double-overtime win at No. 7 UMass Friday.
- Found the back of the cage twice, including the game winner, in a 3-1 win over Harvard Sunday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Carlie Tarbell, Sr., New Hampshire
Wakefield, Mass.
- The senior goalkeeper made 13 saves in leading UNH to two wins last week.
- Made eight saves, including three in overtime, in a 3-2 win over No. 7 UMass Friday.
- Had five stops in Sunday's 3-1 win over Harvard.
Rookie of the Week
Ann Burgoyne, Fr., Fairfield
Blue Bell, Pa.
- Tallied fivepoints (3G, 1A) in Fairfield's win over Monmouth Friday.
- Had two goals and an assit in the Stags' win.
Around the League
- No. 11 Albany suffered its first loss of the season, a 2-1 defeat to No. 6 Stanford Sunday.
- Daphne Voormolen scored an Albany record five goals in a 9-0 win over Sacred Heart Friday.
- New Hampshire upset No. 7 UMass, 3-2 in double-overtime Friday and then beat Harvard, 3-1, Sunday, its fourth-straight win.
- Fairfield (8-2) extended its win streak to five with wins over Monmouth and Coumbia last week.
- Maine beat UMass Lowell Saturday, 4-0, to move to 1-0 in America East play.
