CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On the first night of conference play, UMBC and New Hampshire took home four-set and three-set victories respectively on Friday. Here is a recap of those two matches along with previews for the two conference matches on Sunday.
Friday, Sept. 27

- UMBC won three-straight sets after dropping the opening set to Stony Brook.
- Sherelle Walker recorded a season-best 17 kills for the Retrievers, as UMBC out-hit Stony Brook .159 to .068

- Stony Brook was led by Kaitlin Fletcher's 11 kills and 13 digs.

- New Hampshire captured its fourth-straight conference-opener with a straight-set win over UMass Lowell, which was hosting its first America East contest in school history.
- Sophomore Tori Forrest notched her third-straight double-double for the Wildcats with 14 kills and 12 digs.
- Setter Taylor Dunklau captained the offense with 38 assists as the team finished with a .211 hitting percentage.
- UMass Lowell was paced by Ana Anadon's 11 kills and Carolyn Eddy's 11 digs.
Sunday, Sept. 29

- The first weekend of the year has a rematch of the 2012 title game and the top-two teams in the preseason poll. Binghamton defeated Albany on the Great Danes home court to take the America East title last year.
- The Great Danes have won five-straight regular-season titles, losing only a total of five conference matches in that time.
- Albany has a young squad in search of its first win, welcoming nine newcomers this year.
- Binghamton won its third America east title in 2012 and return four starters from last year's team including Co-Setter of the Year Amanda Dettmann.
