CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a vote that came down to the final minutes, America East fans voted University of New Hampshire's Kelsey Hogan's buzzer beater in the women's basketball quarterfinals as the 2012-13 Moment of the Year. Hogan edged UMass Lowell joining the conference by just two total votes, 477-475, to earn the distinction.
After collecting nominations through social media, fans voted for 13 different moments of the year in five different ways using three separate social media platforms:
• Like your favorite moment on Facebook
• Share your favorite moment with your friends on Facebook
• Retweet your favorite moment on Twitter
• Favorite your favorite moment on Twitter
• Like your favorite moment on YouTube
Voting closed on Friday at 2 p.m. UMass Lowell had a seven vote lead with 25 minutes to go, but the Wildcats rallied with 27 votes in the final minutes to edge out the River Hawks.
The campaign received 1,304 votes in total: 615 on Facebook, 556 on Twitter and 133 on YouTube.
