New Hampshire head women's lacrosse coach Sarah Albrecht helped Team USA capture the gold medal in the 2013 FIL World Cup on Saturday and was one of six US players to be named to the All-World Team.
The American women capped a dominant tournament with a 19-5 win over Team Canada in the gold medal game Saturday. The United States set tournament records for goals scored (127) and goals per game (18.1).
Albrecht, who served her first year as head coach of the Wildcats, had one goal in the gold medal game and was a big part of the US midfield throughout the tournament. In her first year at the helm, she led New Hampshire to the No. 3 seed in the America East tournament.
Team Canada also was represented by the America East with three Vermont Catamounts earning silver medals including rising sophomore Vanessa VanderZalm, 2005 graduate Vanessa Cox and assistant coach Alex Kahoe. VanderZalm was an All-Conference selection in 2013 for the Catamounts.
