COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Five days after capturing their first America East women's lacrosse title, the Stony Brook Seawolves will make program history once again when they take the field in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday night in College Park, Md. The Seawolves will face-off against the Towson Tigers on the University of Maryland campus, with the winner moving on to face No. 1 seed Maryland on Sunday at noon.
Stony Brook can become the third team in America East history to win an NCAA game, joining Boston University and Albany. The Terriers defeated Colgate in 2005 and New Hampshire in 2008. The Great Danes are the last team to win a game, beating Dartmouth 10-7 in 2011.

• Stony Brook earned its first NCAA Championship berth with a 14-3 win over Albany in the America East Championship title game on Sunday, May 5 at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y.
• The Seawolves broke numerous conference championship records including fewest goals allowed in a tournament (7 over two games) and largest margin of victory in a title game (11). In addition, Demmianne Cook broke the single game tournament record with seven goals in the conference semifinal game. Also, goalkeeper Frankie Caridi recorded the lowest goals against average in a tournament, surrendering just 3.50 per game.
• Stony Brook enters the championship ranked first in scoring defense, allowing just 5.33 goals per game, while also ranking second in scoring offense at 15.94 goals per game.
• Stony Brook senior midfielder Demmianne Cook, the conference Co-Player of the Year, and Boston U. senior attack Danielle Etrasco are ranked first and third in the nation in goals per game. Cook is first at 4.78 and Etrasco is third at 3.69. Cook also ranks sixth in the nation in points per game, averaging 5.11.
• Cook is in range of breaking the conference single-season goals record, entering the NCAA tournament with 86, just five away from tying the record. Other record’s have also fallen this year including Albany senior Rachael Burek breaking the conference assist record with 24 in six league games, and teammate Kathleen Lennon breaking the draw controls record with 101.
• America East teams are 3-14 all-time in the NCAA Championship with Boston U. notching two wins and Albany winning one. The Great Danes are the last America East team to win an NCAA contest, defeating Dartmouth in 2011.
• Stony Brook is the sixth-straight America East team to win the conference regular season with an unbeaten record.
• This is the first time an America East team has played Towson in an NCAA Championship game.
• Towson was a member of the America East Conference from 1996-2001 and won the regular season in 1997. The Tigers did not win a tournament title.
