Final Weekend of Softball Conference Play on Tap

The America East softball regular season wraps up this weekend and while the four conference championship participants are known, seeding, including the top seed, is up for graps.

Albany and Binghamton will decide the conference's regular-season title this weekend in Binghamton, while Maine hosts Hartford and Boston U. visits Stony Brook. Regardless of the Albany-Binghamton outcome this weekend, Binghamton will host the 2013 America East Championship next weekend.

Albany at Binghamton -- Live Stats
Game 1: Saturday, 1 p.m.

Game 2: Saturday, 3 p.m.
Game 3: Sunday, 12 p.m.

The America East regular-season title will be on the line when the league's top two teams, Albany (33-12. 13-1 AE) and Binghamton (18-13, 13-2 AE) meet in Vestal this weekend. The winner of the series will win the league's regular-season crown. It would be Albany's fifth regular-season crown and Binghamton's first. The Bearcats, the league's top hitting team (.302) have won eight in a row while the Great Danes, the conference's top pitching squad (3.01  ERA), led by Brittany MacFawn (24-6, 1.98 ERA, 248 Ks) are winners in 14 of their last 15 games.

Hartford at Maine -- Live Stats
Game 1: Saturday, 12 p.m.

Game 2: Sunday, 2 p.m.
Game 3: Sunday, 11 a.m.

Hartford (19-29, 8-7 AE) and Maine (7-37, 3-12) meet in Orono. The Black Bears, who come in trying to snap a five-game losing skid, are wrapping up their regular season, while the Hawks, who are coming off a sweep of UMBC last weekend, have secured their first America East Championship bid since 2007. Hartford can lock up the tournament's No. 2 seed by winning the series this weekend.

Boston U. at Stony Brook

Stony Brook (25-22, 7-8 AE) hosts Boston U. (19-29, 8-7 AE) as both teams close out their regular seasons. The Seawolves have secured a tournament spot for the second straight year and can finish as high as third in the league standings if it finishes at least a game ahead of Hartford.
