Binghamton Heads to Raleigh Regional for NCAA Baseball Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – The 2013 America East Champion Binghamton Bearcats will head to the Raligh Regional and face host North Carolina State, in the first game of the regional which takes place Friday through Monday in Raleigh, N.C.

The Bearcats (30-23), who are making their second trip to the NCAA tournament, learned their NCAA draw during the tournament selection show on Monday afternoon on ESPNU. Joining Binghamton and N.C. State in the regional are Ole Miss and William & Mary.

Binghamton won its second America East title and first since 2009 with a 4-0 win over No. 1 seed Maine on Sunday in Kingston, R.I. Senior Jake Lambert tossed eight shutout innings in the contest for his second win of the tournament on his way to being named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Lambert also threw a complete-game shutout in the Bearcats’ opening game against Albany.

Binghamton and N.C. State will face-off on Friday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. Ole Miss and William & Mary will open the regional earlier in the day at 2 p.m.

Each of the 16 regionals features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. The regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, May 31, to Monday, June 3 (if necessary). Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on www.NCAA.com/cws, Monday, June 3 at approximately 11 p.m. (ET).

The 67th Men’s College World Series begins play Saturday, June 15, at the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. A complete bracket, including records and match-ups, is below and attached.
