CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three different teams were recognized in the America East women’s lacrosse weekly award for the week ending April 7, the conference office announced Monday. Albany senior Rachael Burek was named Offensive Player of the Week, Stony Brook sophomore Michell Rubino earned Defensive Player of the Week, and New Hampshire freshman Laura McHoul was recognized as Rookie of the Week.

Burek (Rensselaer, N.Y.) helped Albany to a, 17-9, conference victory on the road at Boston University. Burek  tied her career-best for points in a game with nine on three goals and six assists against the Terriers, marking the second time this season Burek has recorded nine points. The senior assisted on the team’s fourth goal which broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Great Danes the lead for good. She later scored an important insurance goal after the Terriers had clawed back within three late in the first half. Burek has recorded at least one point in nine straight games.

Rubino (East Setauket, N.Y.) was part of a Stony Brook defensive effort that held UMBC to nine goals as the Seawolves defeated the Retrievers, 15-9, to take sole possession of first place in the America East. It was the 12th time this season Stony Brook has held an opponent to single digits. Rubino had four ground balls, which was tied for the best in the conference in a single game last week, to go with three caused turnovers and two draw controls. She also added two goals and an assist on the offensive end. Only a sophomore, she has 136 draw controls in her career, which is eight shy of Amy Taylor for 4th all-time at SBU in career draw controls.

McHoul (Westwood, Mass.) recorded nine points on two goals and seven assists, to propel New Hamsphire to its first conference win of the season, 13-12 at Binghamton. The nine points are the most by a Wildcat since May 2010 and no UNH player has tallied seven (or more) assists in more than a decade. McHoul recorded four points during UNH's 5-0 run that transformed a four-goal deficit into a 12-11 lead. She ignited the comeback with a goal at 11:14, then assisted on UNH's 9th, 11th and 12th goals of the game. Earlier in the week against UVM, she tallied a point on three of the team's four goals with a goal and two assists; in the two games last week, McHoul recorded a point on 12 of 17 goals.
