CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two America East teams overcame big deficits to earn victories on Saturday, while Stony Brook defeated UMBC to become the lone unbeaten team in league play.

Boston University had nine different players score as the Terriers posted a 20-17 victory over Vermont on Saturday afternoon. The 20 goals were the most by the Terriers since defeating New Hampshire, 20-5, on April 29, 2006. It was the first road win and first conference win over the year for Boston U., who was led by senior Danielle Etrasco’s nine goals. Vermont scored seven-straight goals in the first half and had a 10-2 lead at the 12:08 mark. Sydney Mas led the Catamounts with four goals. Boston U. rallied by scoring eight of the final nine goals of the half and trailed 11-10 at halftime. The Terriers took the lead for good with a 4-0 run early in the second half, staking themselves to a 16-13 lead.

New Hampshire’s Jenny Simpson scored with one second remaining in the game as the Wildcats came from behind to defeat Binghamton, 13-12, on the road Saturday. Simpson finished with three goals, reaching the 100 career goal milestone for the Wildcats. Freshman Laura McHoul also was outstanding with a career-high nine points on the day. New Hampshire trailed 11-7 midway through the second half half but stormed back to take a 12-11 lead with five goals spanning 10 minutes. Binghamton’s Katherine Hunsberger, who had a game-high nine draw controls, tied the game at 12 with just under a minute to go. That set the stage for Simposon’s heroics, who found the back of the net with just one second remaining on the clock. It was the fifth game this season decided by one goal for the Wildcats.

Janine Hillier posted five points on four goals and one assist as No. 12/11 Stony Brook took down UMBC, 15-9, for its sixth-straight win Saturday evening in Baltimore. Demmianne Cook had a hat trick and Frakie Caridi made six stops in net to help the Seawolves hold an opponent to single difits for the 12th time this season. Stony Brook jumped out to a 9-3 lead at the half, but UMC rallied in the second half to cut the deficit to 14-9 after a goal by Shannon Harkey. Harkey led the Retrievers with three goals on two assists. Michell Rubino finished the scoring for the Seawolves, netting and unassisted tally with 5:45 to play to clunch the win. It was the first-ever win for the Seawolves over the Retrievers in Baltimore.
