CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Stony Brook and Hartford each earned important series wins and were rewarded by splitting America East baseball weekly honors, the conference office announced Monday. A pair of Seawolves earned awards, as Kevin Courtney was named Player of the Week and Daniel Zamora earned his second-straight Rookie of the Week nod. Hartford righthander Sean Newcomb was named Pitcher of the Week.

Courtney (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) slugged .833 and drove in a conference-best seven runs, helping the Seawolves secure a series win on the road at Binghamton. The junior first baseman hit two home runs against the Bearcats, including a grand slam in the fifth inning of game one that broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Seawolves to a 5-1 victory. He followed that up by striking a three-run home run in the sixth inning on Sunday that broke open the game and led the Seawolves to an 8-4 win. In total, five of Courtney's six hits were for extra bases.

Newcomb (Middleboro, Mass.) threw a complete-game shutout as Hartford topped first-place Maine 1-0. Newcomb threw all nine innings in the series finale, allowing just three hits while striking out nine to help the Hawks hand the Black Bears their first series loss in conference play this year.

Zamora (La Puente, Calif.) delivered another outstanding performance, lifting the Seawolves to a series victory over Binghamton with seven strong innings on Sunday. He allowed just one run on four hits, walking four and striking out four and picked up his second collegiate victory in the Seawolves' 8-4 win. Zamora allowed only three runners to reach third base on the day and only one in the first five innings pitched. In seven conference starts this season, Zamora has a 2.84 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 44-1/3 innings.
