STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The No. 10/10 Stony Brook University women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Boston University, 18-11, to clinch the No. 1 overall seed in the 2013 America East Championship and at-least a share of the conference regular-season title.

The 2013 America East Championship will be held May 3 and 5 at LaValle Stadium. It is the second regular-season title for the Seawolves, with the first coming in 2007.

The victory by Stony Brook also made Albany the No. 2 seed in the championship. The Great Danes defeated Binghamton Saturday to clinch a spot in the tournament.

Demmianne Cook scored four goals in the contest, giving her 69 for the year and breaking the school single-season scoring record.

The Seawolves led for the entire game over the Terriers, but Boston U. cut the deficit to one on four different occassions in the first half. Danielle Etrasco was one of five Terriers to net two goals, including one with less than a minute to go in the first half that brought Boston U. with one goal at 9-8.

Stony Brook took control of the game in the second half, scoring six of the final seven goals to take a 12-10 lead to 18-11 with 6:30 remaining.

Cook was a big part of the second half defense with nine draw controls and a team-high three caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Frankie Caridi had five saves in the game and one ground ball.
