Albany Clinches Spot in America East Championship; Stony Brook Hosts Boston U. Sunday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Albany clinched a spot in the America East Championship, while Vermont notched an important, 8-7, win over UMBC. With Vermont's win, four teams are now tied for third place in the conference standings at 2-3.

Adding to her already impressive senior resume, senior attack Rachael Burek broke the University at Albany’s single-game point’s record with 11 on four goals and seven assists in the 22-6 win over Binghamton on Saturday. The win clinched a spot in the America East Championship for the Great Danes. Albany will be at-least the No. 2 seed.

Sydney Mas wrapped her way around the cage and found the back of the net with 2:22 remaining in the contest, to push Vermont past UMBC, 8-7,  on Senior Day Saturday afternoon from Virtue Field.

Stony Brook can clinch the No. 1 seed and host the America East Championship with a win over Boston University. The game will be a matchup of the top two goal scorers in the country, as Stony Brook’s Demmianne Cook is first at 4.64 goals per game and Boston U.’s Danielle Etrasco is second at 3.91 goals per game. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed due to the events in Boston on Friday night.
