Stony Brook's Tommy Brenton, the America East Kevin Roberson Player in men's basketball, was named to the Associated Press All-America Team as an honorable mention choice, the organization announced Monday.Brenton, a senior forward, did a little bit of everything in leading the Seawolves to their best season as a Division I program. Also the league's Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a first-team and All-Defensive squad choice, Brenton ranked third among league leaders in rebounding (8.5 rpg) and assists (4.8 apg) while finishing fourth in steals (1.6 spg) and pacing the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2-to-1). Just the second player to win both Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same season, Brenton averaged a career-best 8.4 points per game as a senior. He finished his career tied for third on the league's all-time rebound list with 2,015 career boards.
