2012 Title Game Rematch Highlights the Women's Lacrosse Weekend Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Easter Weekend America East women’s lacrosse schedule features a pair of afternoon games, including a rematch of the 2012 America East Championship title game between Stony Brook and Albany. Vermont also hosts Binghamton in the conference opener for the Bearcats.

Binghamton plays its America East opener, hosting Vermont on Saturday in Vestal, N.Y. at noon. The Bearcats earned their first win of the season last week with a 10-7 victory over Siena.  Goalie Erin McNulty had a big game for Binghamton, making 10 saves to go with three ground balls and two caused turnovers to earn Rookie of the Week honors.

Vermont is coming off the program’s first win over a ranked opponent since 2008 after beating No. 15/15 Dartmount, 16-15, in triple overtime on Wednesday afternoon. Samantha Gallerani scored an unassisted goal with 2:21 remaining in the third overtime to give the Catamounts the win.

NR/RV Albany visits No. 13/13 Stony Brook in a rematch of the 2012 America East Championship title game. The Great Danes have won back-to-back conference titles, defeating the Seawolves 9-7 last year. Both teams won their conference openers last weekend and are the top-two scoring offenses in the conference. Stony Brook averaged 16.36 goals per game while Albany scored 14.44 per game. The teams are also first and second in goals against average with Stony Brook allowing just 5.00 goals per game and Albany allowing 7.25 goals per game.

Stony Brook’s Demianne Cook enters the weekend ranked second in the country in scoring at 4.14 goals per game.  Albany freshman Rachel Bowles has been impressive to star her collegiate career, averaging 3.00 goals per game through the first eight contests.
