Alford, Henry Named College Sports Madness Mid-Major All-Americans

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The America East Co-Players of the Year, Boston University's Chantell Alford and Albany's Ebone Henry, earned more accolades as the pair were named to the College Sports Madness Mid-Major All-America Third Team, the organization announced Thursday.

Alford led the America East in scoring throughout the season by averaging 16.6 points per game and totaled 26 double-digit scoring performances throughout the season. She eclipsed the 20-point mark in nine games and scored a career-high 30 points, including six made 3-pointers, against then No. 14/22 West Virginia on Nov. 11.

Alford ranks eighth in Division I with a 42.2 3-point field goal percentage and led the conference with a career-best 76 treys this season.

The four-time America East All-Conference First Team selection has left her mark throughout the BU record books, as she ranks third all-time in program history with 1.773 career points. She has also connected on a school record 239 3-pointers and ranks in the top 10 all-time with 263 steals.

Henry, a three-time All-Conference First Team selection, is just the second player in America East history to be named Defensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year in the same season.

Henry ranks second in the conference in scoring at 14.4 per game, second in steals at 2.9 per game and fifth in assists at 3.3 per game. She has led the Great Danes to a program record 26 wins and the team's second-straight appearance in the America East title game on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 and Fox College Sports.
