CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The America East women's basketball schedule on Saturday features three matinees, with two 1 p.m. tips and one at 2 p.m.
Undefeated Albany (19-3, 10-0) makes the road trip to Maine (2-20, 1-8) at 1 p.m. The Great Danes had five players score in double figures in the first meeting, beating the Black Bears, 71-39. The contest two of the top freshmen in the league in Maine's Liz Wood and Albany's Shereesha Richards.
Vermont (7-15, 4-5) gets out of the snow in the northeast to head to the Mid-Atlantic region for a contest at UMBC (7-16, 3-7). Vermont won a close contest in the first meeting, edging the Retrievers 63-60. Tierra Shumpert hit a pair of clutch free throws with four seconds left for the Catamounts, and UMBC could not get a shot off before the final buzzer.
Boston U. (19-4, 9-1) remains a game behind Albany for first-place in the America East entering Saturday. The Terriers travel to Binghamton (4-19, 3-7) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Terriers had a three-point lead with just over a minute remaining when Danielle Callahan hit a clutch jump shot and then Boston U. came up with a defensive stop to go on to a 57-52 win over the Bearcats.
Stony Brook (12-11, 4-6) hosts Hartford (15-8, 6-4) Sunday at 3 p.m. The game was moved after originally being schedule for Saturday afternoon due to the impending snow.
