Albany Clinches Outright Regular-Season Title; Hartford Locks-Up No. 2 Seed

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  - Albany clinched its first-ever outright America East regular-season title while Hartford earned the No. 2 seed in the America East Championship in women's hoops action Wednesday night.

The Great Danes (24-3, 15-0) came back from a 12-point halftime deficit to beat New Hampshire (10-17, 5-10) in Durham, N.H. Megan Craig scored a game-high 20 points to lead Albany. Morgan Frame scored 12 of her team-high 16 points in the first half for New Hampshire, who forced 10 Albany turnoevers to take a 30-18 lead into halftime. Albany outscored New Hampshire 37-16 in the second half to take the win and earn the outright America East regular-season title.

Hartford (18-10, 9-6) secured the No. 2 seed in the America East Championship with a, 69-62, win at UMBC (10-18, 6-9). The Hawks led for the majority of the contest until a 7-0 run by the Retrievers game the home team its first lead of the game at 42-38 with 13:59 remaining. Hartford responded with nine-straight to regain a lead it would not relinquish. Nikkia Smith led the Hawks with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Vermont (9-19, 6-9) earned an important victory on Senior Night, 61-43, over Binghamton (5-23, 4-11). Lauren Buschmann had a double-double in her final home game, scoring a game-high 19 points to go with 12 rebounds to lead the Catamounts. Vermont shot 40.7-percent from the field, while holding Binghamton to just 28.3-percent. The win moved Vermont into a three-way tie with UMBC and Stony Brook for the No. 3 seed.
