CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– After registering a 4-1 record last week, the Maine Black Bears swept the
second week of America East baseball honors, the conference office announced
Monday.
Shortstop Michael Fransoso was named Player of the Week,
while junior Tommy Lawrence earned Pitcher of the Week and freshman pitcher
Logan Fullmer was named Rookie of the Week as the Black Bears took two of three
from Stetson and swept Florida A&M in a two-game series.
Fransoso (Portsmouth, N.H.) earned Player of the Week after
leading the conference with a .500 batting average while knocking in seven
runs. Five of Fransoso’s 11 hits for the week went for doubles, as he finished
with a .727 slugging percentage while also going a perfect three-for-three in
steals. Fransoso had multi-hit games in four of Maine’s five contests,
including a pair of three-hit performances.
Lawrence (West Haven, Conn.) threw eight innings of one-run
baseball helping Maine to a 7-1 win at Stetson. He allowed only one earned run
on eight hits while striking out six. Only one hit went for extra bases.
Fullmer (Lebanon, Pa.) tossed six shutout innings in his
collegiate debut against Florida A&M, earning his first win with the Black
Bears. Fullmer had seven strikeouts, allowing only two hits while walking two
and throwing 86 pitches as Maine won 5-0.
